Native American Artifacts

The Green County Genealogical Society will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. The program “Native American Artifacts” will be presented by Jim Beer. He has hunted and collected Indian artifacts since 1960. Jim was the past national president of the Genuine Indian Relic Society. Jim Beer is a published author and is working on his second book.
Jim Beer is a descendent of David Legler and Barbara Streiff, who settled in New Glarus in 1846. He was born in Monroe in 1946. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1964, UW-Madison in 1969 with a BS in Secondary Education, Marquette University Law in 1972, JD. He joined with Anna O. Blum to form the law firm Beer and Blum, which later merged with Viney and Schmitz to form the law firm of Viney Schmitz Beer and Blum. He was elected Green County District Attorney in 1975; served as Family Court Commissioner under Judge John Callahan and Judge David Deininger. Governor Tommy Thompson appointed him as Circuit Judge and served in that capacity for 25 years. Currently he is a Wisconsin Reserve Circuit Judge appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
