Monticello 4th, 5th, and 6th grades wrapped up the 2023 Battle of the Books competition last week, with 6th grade taking home the top prize. This is the first year that Monticello has competed in the competition, which was run in our district as a collaboration between the Monticello Public Library and Monticello Elementary School.

Battle of the Books is a statewide competition that asks students in grades 4-6 to read from a list of 20 books that are chosen for their wide range of content, characters, topics, and reading level. Picture books, nonfiction titles, graphic novels, and chapter...
