Lady Wildcats Dropped Two Games Last Week

On February 7th, the Belleville girls basketball team played at Cambridge. Down by 4 at the half, the two teams were evenly matched in the second half but the Wildcats came up short. The final score was Cambridge 47, Belleville 43.

Maddi DeSmet scored 18 points to lead the Wildcats, with 14 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 7 blocks, while Toria Devoe scored 9 points and had 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal and Addison Edge scored 8 points with 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.

On February 10th, Belleville hosted Marshall. Down 27-42 at the half, the Wildcats lost the game. The final score was Marshall 67, Belleville 51.

Scoring 18 points to lead Belleville was Maddi DeSmet, who also had 19 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocks, while Addison Edge scored 13 points with 2 rebounds and 1 assist and Toria Devoe put 8 points on the board with 2 rebounds.

With a 3-6 conference record (9-14 overall), the Lady Wildcats are currently fourth in the Capitol South Conference. Their last regular season game will be played at Waterloo on February 16th. They drew a #10 seed for the WIAA Division 4 regional and will play at #7 seeded Poynette on February 21st. The winner will play a yet to be determined opponent on Friday, February 24th.
