Free Family Course on Mental Health Being Offered
February 9, 2023
Family members need support too! Are you bewildered about how to help your loved one, or frustrated and discouraged in your relationship with a family member suffering from mental health symptoms? This class is for you.
NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots organization dedicated to providing education, support, and advocacy to family members and individuals whose lives are affected by mental illness. Beginning Monday, February 20th, at 6:00 p.m., NAMI Green County will be offering the eight-session Family-to-Family course in a virtual format.
Family-to-Family is a nationally acclaimed evidence-based course intended for family members, friends, and caregivers of adult individuals living with a mental illness. This means that research has demonstrated that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving skills of people closest to a person with a mental health condition. Taught by two NAMI-trained family members, you’ll learn about communicating more effectively, current therapies and treatments, managing your own stress, and much more. For many attendees, the course has been a life-changing experience.
There is no charge, and you need not be a NAMI member to attend. Because the course is being offered virtually, it is important to register by February 10th to receive course materials promptly. For more details and how to register, please visit the website https://namigreencounty.org and follow the prompts to the Family-to-Family education course or call the NAMI Green County Office at (608) 324-4677.
