Sunflower Resettlement Pathway Welcomes Ukrainian Refugee Family to New Glarus
Bank of New Glarus Now Accepting Donations to Assist the Family Transition to Independence
January 26, 2023
The New Glarus Sunflower Resettlement Pathway ("SRP") is excited to announce a Ukrainian refugee family of four has arrived! This family of four is getting settled in their temporary, donated New Glarus home. SRP committee members are hard at work introducing the family to town and the area, facilitating school enrollment, and working hard on a myriad of other needed tasks.
There are many ways YOU can help, like:
Volunteer your time in organizing, coordinating, and helping our efforts, including driving, or providing tutoring assistance. Purchase gas or other gift cards, particularly from our local businesses. Contribute towards a monthly utility fund (estimated at $400/month). Start your own personal Facebook fundraiser that we can highlight on our SRP page. Donate towards a housing fund to help defray rent once the donated home is no longer available. Save your good quality household items, furniture, etc., to help outfit an entire household of four. Give us leads on potential homes or apartments that will be available for rent around June 1st. Pay for or defray a pool membership, swim lessons, driver's ed, or other extracurricular/recreational activities for the children.
If you would like to help the family transition to independence, the Bank of New Glarus has set up an account that is managed by SRP. Swing by the bank or go through the drive-thru and ask that funds be deposited into the Ukrainian Family aid account. Note bank donations will not be tax deductible. If you prefer to make a tax-deductible donation, please send a check labeled "New Glarus Ukraine Relief" to our non-profit partner, SWCAP (Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program), 149 N. Iowa Street, Dodgeville, WI 53533.
Finally, welcome the family by flying a Ukrainian flag alongside your American flag, displaying some blue and yellow lights, or encouraging your children to color or paint a Ukrainian flag on a small poster board to display it in your front window. Little gestures will mean a lot!

Sincerely,
