The Sugar River Raider wrestling team held its annual tournament on Saturday, December 10th. At the end of the day, the Raiders placed 2nd out of the seven team tournament.

Evansville outed the Raiders by 18 points to take home the team championship.

"It was a great day of wrestling for the team. We won some really close matches, as well as lost some. At this point in the season, we are looking at getting as much mat time as possible. The team has been preparing themselves really well through the week and we have a fairly busy schedule during the month of December. Staying healthy and hungry for competition is key," said Coach Peter Swenson.

Individual champions for the Raiders include Mason Mau (132), Eli Leonard (152), and Carson Loshaw (195). Second place finishers include Blake Endres (113), Ashlin Mihlbauer (126), Ryker Swenson (160), Alex Zielinski (170), and Garrett Pauli (220). Taking third place was Brennan Keyes (138), Trei Udelhoven (145), and Aidan Keyes (182).

"We had a lot of wrestlers place in the top three. This small tournament has some great competition, so to place in the top three is a great accomplishment! However, the goal is to keep improving and staying aggressive on the mat," said Swenson.

The Raiders hosted an Invitational on December 13th in Belleville. They will wrestle at the Alliant Energy Center on December 17th, and at a Dual in Lodi on December 22nd.
