Swim Team Sending Several to State

Swimmers celebrate!

"Monroe-New Glarus had a very exciting sectional meet at Sauk Prairie. All swimmers that competed had at least one lifetime best swim," said Coach Rachel Root. "The following swimmers swam at sectionals and contributed to the third place team finish: Megan Chapman, Anna Zentner, Amelia Geib, Piper Faber, Maggie Piper, Delaney Lynch, Amalia Morrison, Danika Doll, Riley Hoesly, and Kristina Foley."

Monroe-New Glarus placed third out of 13 teams at the sectional meet.

The 200 Free Relay team of Riley Hoesly, Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, and Megan Chapman broke the school record. The record was previously held by Lauren Plourde, Abby Dalton, Brittany Wilson, and Ellie Radke (set in 2003).

Individual Event State Qualifiers include Megan Chapman (200 free/500 free), Anna Zentner (200 IM/100 fly), Delaney Lynch (100 fly), Riley Hoesly (100 free).

Relay State Qualifiers include 200 Free Relay: Riley Hoesly, Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch, Megan Chapman (Alternates: Piper Faber, Amelia Geib, Danika Doll) and 400 Free Relay: Megan Chapman, Anna Zentner, Riley Hoesly, Delaney Lynch (Alternates: Piper Faber, Amelia Geib, Danika Doll).

Sectional Meet Results

The 200Y Medley Relay team of Amelia Geib, Maggie Piper, Delaney Lynch and Riley Hoesly placed 3rd, with a time of 1:59.30.

In the 200Y Freestyle, Megan Chapman finished 5th with a time of 2:00.34.

In the 200Y IM, Anna Zentner finished 6th with a time of 2:22.59 while Amelia Geib finished 8th with a time of 2:29.61 and Maggie Piper finished 10th with a time of 2:33.06.

In the 50Y Freestyle, Danika Doll finished 16th with a time of 27.80, while Amalia Morrison finished 24th with a time of 28.89 and Kristina Foley finished 28th with a time of 29.30.

In the 100Y Butterfly, Delaney Lynch finished 2nd with a time of 1:00.91, while Anna Zentner finished 4th with a time of 1:02.40.

In the 100Y Freestyle, Riley Hoesly finished 5th with a time of 55.78, while Piper Faber finished 16th with a time of 59.69, Danika Doll finished 17th with a time of 1:00.95, Amalia Morrison finished 27th with a time of 1:03.27 and Kristina Foley finished 33rd with a time of 1:05.90.

In the 500Y Freestyle, Megan Chapman finished 4th with a time of 5:18.31.

In the 200Y Freestyle Relay, the team of Riley Hoesly, Anna Zentner, Delaney Lynch and Megan Chapman finished 4th with a time of 1:42.40.

In the 100Y Backstroke, Amelia Geib finished 7th with a time of 1:04.88.

In the 100Y Breaststroke, Maggie Piper finished 12th with a time of 1:19.76.

The 400Y Freestyle Relay team of Megan Chapman, Anna Zentner, Riley Hoesly and Delaney Lynch finished 3rd with a time of 3:44.80.

"Haley and I have been extremely proud and impressed with how the team has supported and pushed each other this season!" said Coach Root.

The WIAA Girls Swimming and Diving Championships will be held at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium on Friday and Saturday, November 11-12, 2022. The Division 2 championships will be held Friday, with the Division 1 championships to follow on Saturday. The Division 2 diving competition begins at 1:30 p.m., and the swimming finals are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. The Division 1 diving competition is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the swimming events to begin at 2:30 p.m. The swimming events will run consecutively following the first event's starting time on the respective days.
