Vote to Make Your Vote Matter

October 6, 2022

Dear Editor,

Tony Evers was elected Governor of Wisconsin in 2019. That is a fact.

His election meant that the majority of voters in that election wanted his policies to go into effect. One way he gets his policies implemented is to appoint people to administrative positions in government who will carry out his policies.

That’s the way democracy should work.

But the Republican controlled Senate has refused to confirm 42% of Evers’ 299 appointees - leaving many Walker appointees in positions of power more than a year after their terms expired.

This is the shameful way that the will of the people is ignored at the present time in Wisconsin.

As a result, DNR rules setting safer standards for our lakes and streams, our ground water and air quality in Wisconsin get tossed to the side.

As a result, a very decent guy, Brad Pfaff, who wanted to provide government funds to help farmers with mental health problems, gets kicked out of his office as Agriculture Secretary.

It’s time for a change, time to make democracy work again in our state.

Vote in the November 8th election to do that.

Damian Barta,

Spring Green
