Wildcats Football Continues Season Undefeated

On Friday, September 2nd, the Belleville Wildcats varsity football team played Potosi/Cassville in Potosi. With a 10-7 lead at the half, the Wildcats went on to win the game, 30-7.
The Wildcats first scored in the first quarter on a 25-yard pass from Aidan Keyes to Andrew Ace. The extra point by Kaden DeSmet was good. Shortly after the Wildcats scored, Potosi/Cassville put 7 of their own points on the board. In the second quarter, DeSmet kicked a field goal from 26 yards out to score 3 and the Wildcats led the game at the end of the second.
Aidan Keyes tossed a 22 yarder to Andrew Ace for a TD in the third quarter, with DeSmet kicking the extra point. In the third quarter, Keyes connected with DeSmet from 32 yards out to score again, and DeSmet missed the extra point. With a little over a minute left in the game, Keyes threw it to Ace for a 6-yard gain to score the final touchdown of the game and DeSmet’s kick was good.
Aidan Keyes racked up 353 passing yards on 20 completions, along with 4 touchdowns.
Leading the Wildcats in rushing yards was Logan Derke, with 76 on 13 attempts.
Leading receivers included Kaden DeSmet with 161 yards and 1 TD, Andrew Ace with 72 yards and 3 touchdowns, DeMarcus Conner with 70 yards, Logan Derke with 26 yards and Davis Richter with 24 yards.
Defensively, Jake Fahey had 5 tackles, Davis Richter 4, Andrew Ace, Logan Derke, Ryker Swenson and Devin Gratz with 2 tackles, and Casey Hagen, DeMarcus Conner, Aidan Keyes, Brennan Keyes and Kaden DeSmet all had 1 tackle each, with DeSmet having an interception.
The Wildcats are at home on Friday, September 9th, and will play host to Southwestern/East Dubuque.
