A Note From the Monticello Village President

Dear Monticello Residents,
First off, I want to thank all the people who stepped up to help our Village Board get through the recent primary election and the difficult void left by recent resignations in our local government. The county clerk, Arianna Voegeli, former trustees Bob Voss, Erin Goins, Tyler Smith, John Teasdale, Jack Stenbroten, Steve Scanlan, Julie Garrison and present appointed Trustees Rene Nicholson and Tere Dunlap (please forgive me if I forgot anyone), as well as the police chief Szvon Conway, were not only instrumental but also steadfast in their duties as public servants.
A very special thank you to Sharon Ackerman, present Village trustee April Fuhr and Judy Crooks, former poll worker. You women rock!
I also want to commend a number of village residents and citizens who have attended meetings and volunteered both their time and thoughtful ideas to move Monticello toward a positive future. We need you all to get involved and I am confident that our community will continue to move forward.
I noticed a smaller attendance at the Wednesday, August 17th, regular Village board meeting and wondered why?? We still want and need more people to help Monticello remain a leading community in Wisconsin and, frankly, in America. I do not believe my fellow residents only show up for a drama or to see who has the fortitude to look their elected officials in the eyes to voice their concerns. We have an obligation to speak up and not be afraid to express our opinions. Please come and contribute in any way you can, no matter how much or little. We will always have room for you, your suggestions and improvements.
I, as interim Village President, also want to apologize if I have harmed anyone since taking office. I do make mistakes, and will undoubtedly make more. I will try my best while in this position, that is my sworn oath when I took on the responsibilities as your trustee and now your president. All of you can help the board and me to succeed in taking Monticello into an exciting new era.
