To the village of Monticello residents,

With the help of Green County Sheriff’s Department and the District Attorney’s Office of Green County has papers that show that the past Village President had checks wrote to her and signed by her (and one other person) for over 30,000 dollars from 3/6/2020 to 3/29/2021 for wages of the village clerk (village had 1 full-time clerk and 2 part-time clerks at that time).

The village board didn’t appoint her as clerk or pass a motion in any past board meetings. According to state statue 66.0501 that a person cannot hold a position of village of governing body and be employed with the municipality.
