ALICE M. KNIFFIN

Alice M. Kniffin, age 94, passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at the New Glarus Home where she made many friendships with staff during the pandemic. She was born on October 6, 1927, in Fox River Grove, IL, the daughter of Charles and Emily (Vermoch) Spevak.
Alice graduated from Crystal Lake High School and attended Northwestern College. On October 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to James L. Kniffin Sr. at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cary, IL. They first lived near Wrigley Field in Chicago and settled in Stickney, IL. James would precede her in death on May 15, 1972. Alice worked as an administrative assistant in accounting at North American Rockwell in Cicero, IL, for many years. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Stickney, IL, and CSA, Berwyn, IL.
Alice loved her family, music, dancing, talking on the phone, her Bohemian Heritage, and was an avid reader. Alice's prayers have been granted. She is no longer in pain and suffering. She is in a better place where she can feel the sunshine on her face and the wind on her back and the love of the good Lord.
Alice is survived by her sister, Sylvia Jelinek; her, children Deanna Capp, James (Martha) Kniffin Jr., and Denise Hoger; grandchildren, Allen (Becky) Capp, Lisa Capp, Laura Kniffin, James (Sarah) Kniffin III, Maribeth (Anurag Mandalika) Kniffin, Scott (Cynthia) Hoger Jr., and Kelly (Jim) Lezza; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Gerald Capp; and her brother-in-law, Vlasta Jelinek.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gilchrist at the Belleville Clinic, and staff members at Agrace Hospice, Glarner Lodge and the New Glarus Home for the kind and supportive care for Alice.
Per Alice's wishes, private services will be held.
