Monticello Blood Drive a Roaring Success

July 21, 2022

Dear Editor,

First of all, thank you for advertising all of the local blood drives. The Monticello Red Cross Blood Drive is one of many in our area, and we appreciate that you get the word out. Our small community has a big success with each drive, thanks to the support of local news sources and the generous residents of Monticello and all of our surrounding communities.

The Monticello blood drive at the Zwingli Church on the first of July was well attended. We had an almost full schedule with enough room for a few walk-ins. Forty-five people registered to donate blood. Those folks came from Monticello and from other surrounding towns and villages - one even came from Illinois! Several people were unable to give at this time, but we hope that they all will come back in October when the summer is over and our lives slow down. There were 43 units of blood collected, which can help many people live better lives.

Usually, the second blood drive for Monticello falls in June, which is Dairy Month. This year, we missed that by a day but Karen and Roger Brugger continued the June tradition of donating ice cream sundaes for the canteen. Anna Marie Davison donated a nice variety of sliced cheese - a staple for all blood drives in Green County. The Zwingli Church let us use their clean and convenient facilities and the Ruth Circle donated loads of delicious cookies. The Monticello Lions donated sausage to go along with the cheese and coffee for those who need an afternoon pick-me-up on a Friday. Thank you to all of these generous people for making the stop at the canteen more enjoyable. Thanks also to Culver’s of New Glarus for the “Pint for a Pint” coupons, which are a wonderful incentive to come again.

Many thanks to all who helped make our July blood drive a roaring success. Take good care of yourselves and those around you. We hope to see everyone again in October!

The Monticello Red Cross Blood Drive Committee
