Green County HCE Announces Scholarship Winners

Green County Home and Community Education is happy to announce the recipients of this year's high school senior scholarships. The three students that have been chosen for this year's scholarships are Melanie Humke, Belleville High School; Marisa Vosberg, Monroe High School; and Kaiya Zurfluh, Albany High School.
Melanie is the daughter of Tanya and Dan Humke. She comes from a family of four, and works and Walgreens. She is planning to pursue a major in Biology and minor in Mathematics. Melanie plans to apply to the Honors Program and the University Biocore program that will help her in scientific research. Her final goal is to finish her Bachelor's Degree and head to medical school to become a pediatrician, specializing in Osteology. Melanie participated in sports, several high school service clubs and participated in many community events. She took several advanced college courses and well, and received many excellent letters of recommendation. Melanie ranked first in her graduating class this year at Belleville High School.
Our second recipient is Marisa Vosberg. Marisa is the daughter of Phil and Laura Vosberg. She comes from a family of three and plans to attend Princeton University. Marisa belongs to the Young Americans 4-H Club and several other groups at Monroe High School. She has also taken several advanced college courses through high school while raising her own dairy herd at home. Marisa served as Green County Dairy Queen. She ranked second out of her class of 190 at Monroe High School.
Kaiya Zurfluh, the daughter of Ryan and Tonya Zurfluh and a graduate of Albany High School, is our third recipient. She comes from a family of five and is a member of the Albany FFA. She is an active member of many Albany community groups, the Albany High School Band and high school sports. Kaiya has also participated in two different mission trips. She intends to earn a college degree in Legal Studies and Sociology, helping out those in need. She ranked first in her class at Albany High School.
Congratulations to these students. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for all of them!
