Did you know that more than half of women over age 50 experience issues with bladder or bowel control? These problems can be slightly bothersome or totally debilitating. For some women, the chance of embarrassment keeps them from enjoying many activities and can take control of their life.

A class offered through the ADRC can help. Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder is a workshop researched and developed through the University of Wisconsin Madison – School of Medicine and Public Health, designed to give women age 50 and older the tools they need to take control of their bladder and bowel symptoms. The workshop provides information, group activities, and simple exercises and dietary changes to practice at home. Please note, if you are a woman age 50 and older and are not currently experiencing any bladder or bowel symptoms, you are still able to benefit from this program to delay or prevent any bladder and/or bowel symptoms from developing. It is never too early or too late to begin!

Mind Over Matter: Healthy Bowels, Healthy Bladder, consists of three, 2-hour sessions, meeting every other week. The next offering of Mind Over Matter will be offered on the Fridays of July 22nd, August 5th, and August 19th, from 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m., at the Monticello Public Library, 512 E. Lake Avenue in Monticello. Must be able to attend all three sessions to be eligible to sign up. This class is free of charge. Pre-registration is necessary and spots are limited. No living-in county requirements. This class fills up fast, so be sure to call right away!
