The Wisconsin DNR – Bat Program, along with The Friends of the Badger and Sugar River State Trails and the Belleville Public Library, are presenting a program on the bats of the Stewart Tunnel. The event will be held, Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 10:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., at the Belleville Community Park Shelter.

Bats are amazing animals that make up 20% of the world’s mammal diversity! Wisconsin is home to eight bat species. Locally, the Badger State Trail’s Stewart Tunnel serves as an important bat hibernaculum (overwintering habitat).

Learn about your backyard bats and find out how bats use caves, mines, and tunnels in Wisconsin. Hear about the latest findings on white-nose syndrome and learn what you can do to help.
