Local Fire Departments Respond to House Fire

On June 3, Belleville Fire Department responded to a report of a residential fire in the Village of Belleville.

Lt. Jake Myrland, Public Information Officer with the Belleville Fire Department said, "Due to quick actions by the first arriving Belleville Fire Engine company, as well as crews from 10 surrounding departments, the house is not considered a total loss."

Myrland added that the fire was located and put out in less than 20 minutes from receiving the first 911 call. Remaining time spent on scene was to ensure there was no hidden fire and to assist the owners in removing or protecting valuables.

He continued, "Most of the damage was confined to the attic and a few rooms in the home. Crews were able to simultaneously put the fire out while tarping the main living room to try and prevent further damage to the contents of the home. Assistance on scene was received from Verona (WI) Fire Department, Fitchburg Fire Rescue, Fitch-Rona EMS, Belleville Area EMS, Brooklyn WI Fire and EMS, Oregon Area Fire/EMS District, Monticello Fire Department and New Glarus Fire Department. Along with help from Belleville WI Police Department."

Myrland concluded, "The fire is not considered suspicious in nature, no injuries were reported, the family will be displaced for a period of time as they repair the damage. No dollar loss amount is available currently."
