The New Glarus Roger Bright Polkafest, one of the community’s longest running festivals, returns to draw visitors to downtown New Glarus from Friday, June 10th through Saturday, June 11th! In addition, the sold-out 2022 Beer, Bacon & Cheese Festival will be held on Saturday, June 11th, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Polkafest hours are as follows: Friday, June 10th, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.; Saturday, June 11th, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Polkafest offers live polka music under the big tent downtown, as well as at local bars and restaurants, including the Dave Austin Band, Tom Brusky Band, and Puempel’s Polka Poppers. Win free tickets to Beer, Bacon & Cheese Friday night at 9:00 p.m. under the big tent, and bring the family and learn to polka from Whitney’s Academy of Dance at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday! Beer, Bacon & Cheese boasts over 40 vendors offering samples of local beers, meats, and cheeses. Beer, Bacon & Cheese has already sold out, and only wristband holders may participate in the sampling.
Please make note of the following road closures prior to traveling around downtown New Glarus during Polkafest weekend:
Road Closures
1st Street (between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue) will be closed Thursday morning, June 9th, starting at 8:00 a.m., until Saturday, June 11th, at 10:00 p.m.
5th Avenue (between Railroad Street and 2nd Street) will be closed Saturday morning, June 11th, starting at 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
2nd Street (between 4th Avenue and 5th Avenue) will be closed Saturday morning, June 11th, starting at 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.
4th Avenue (between Railroad Street and 2nd Street) will be closed Saturday morning, June 11th, starting at 6:00 a.m. until 7 p.m.
