Raiders Soccer Team Says Thank You for Supporting "Movin for Moose Night"
June 2, 2022
On Monday, May 9, the Sugar River Raiders girls soccer team hosted Movin' for Moose Night at the Belleville High School Sports Complex in support of Masey.
Masey is the daughter of a former Sugar River Raider player. She has been diagnosed with Pleuropulmonary Blastoma, a cancer that has less than 500 diagnoses in the world, ever.
Masey loves Moose! You can read more about Masey and her fight at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/maseyfarrell.
Recently, the Sugar River Raider players, coaches, and families have supported Masey by reading books and sending the videos to Masey and her family during hospital stays.
We want to thank the many hands that went into making our 'Movin' for Moose' so successful.
First to Masey and her family, for allowing our girls soccer program and the greater community to help rally support. As a family that grew up in the local community and participated in our program, we truly are the fortunate ones that were honored to join in your journey and celebrate the importance of family and community in our lives. Movin' for Moose has been our pleasure.
To the group of parents and alumni friends for their efforts in organizing and engaging so many businesses and programs to participate and attend the night's festivities.
Thank you to Kari Ohms for the beautiful gift baskets she put together for Masey and her siblings.
Thank you to the owners of JonnyO's Pizzeria, Monkeyshines, Hoesly's Meats and Piggly Wiggly for the food and drink donations, the Moose cookie, cupcake, chocolate and dessert makers and the concession stand and 'Moose Tent' volunteers who helped keep the incredible people who attended.
To the owners of Moose Jaw in Wisconsin Dells for donating moose antlers for this event. It really added a nice touch to see so many with moose gear on.
To Belleville Embroidery for their Moose Mob gear and bracelet sales to help raise funds for Masey.
To our local librarians and student readers who have been broadcasting stories to Moose and others on our Facebook page almost nightly for the past few weeks, your care and humor has been fun to watch and hopefully re-watched in days, weeks and months to come.
To our Sugar River Soccer Club and visiting non-soccer athletes and students who for one night were proud Raiders – Movin' for Moose. Thank you for attending.
To the volunteer students, businesses and school administrators who allowed us to host this event, your efforts and contributions are valued and were critical to the success of that night.
Last, but not least, we want to thank those from our area communities for coming to support Masey. It was a memorable night to say the least.
We hope you consider supporting Masey, her family and our community as we continue online and in our daily lives to 'MOVE FOR MOOSE!' We can do hard things, especially when we do them for each other.
