Sisson Believes There Are Other Ways to Express An Opinion

May 26, 2022

Dear Editor,

Having noticed the governor of Florida has worked on getting the word “gay” not being completely acceptable. Yes, we have freedom of speech but I find it very distasteful to have an automobile being a moving billboard for the word “f***”. Also, being parked across the street from our local school. Yes, I know students will learn the word anyway but it just seems unusual to put the word on the back of a vehicle which is seen five days a week by all school-aged young people and anyone else who passes by. I hope the owner doesn’t have young children and have to answer to the use of “f***” on the window when they ask: “Hey Mom/Dad, what does that word mean in that phrase?” I only wonder if the word “gay” is worse than “f***”. There are other ways to express an opinion.

If a member of school staff parked an auto with that phrase on it, trouble would be assured. I read and hear that parents should be in control of what their children learn. The phrase on the back window of this auto doesn’t speak very well for this parent.

Stanley Sisson,

Monticello
