April 21, 2022

On April 11th, the Monticello/New Glarus varsity softball team hosted Juda/Albany in Monticello. J/A threw a combined no-hitter with two pitchers to win the game, 16-0.

“We had some real nice play from senior SS Kylie Liegel who made several tough plays on defense, including a smooth, backhanded flip to get an out at 3rd base late in the game, and had multiple 8+ pitch at bats, fighting off a lot of pitches and drawing one of the MNG’s two walks,” said Coach Mitch Cernek. “Standout freshman Dalana Trumpy also walked and lined out for MNG, and caught all 5 innings for the MNG co-op.”

On April 12th, M/NG hosted Pecatonica at Monticello. It was a pretty close game until the 3rd inning when Pec scored 6 runs and M/NG ended up losing the game 7-17.

Dalana Trumpy was 1x2 at bat and scored 3 runs, while Katelyn Eyler went 2x4 scoring 1 run, Karlee Wilkins was 3x4 with 2 runs scored and Brea McCoy was 1x3 with 1 run scored.

Kira Whisler and Tatum O’Bel shared pitching duties, with O’Bel striking out 2 and Whisler striking out 1.

M/NG hosted Black Hawk on April 19th. They will play at Benton/Shullsburg in Shullsburg on April 21st and at a tournament in Mineral Point on April 23rd.
