“Both meets are an opportunity for us to get kids to experience what a meet entails. Gives the coaching staff to get times, distances, and heights for kids as well,” said Coach Willy Johnson. “As we prepare for the outdoor season, it also allows us to see how lineups may fall when entering kids for upcoming meets. Sometimes kids are disappointed in their performances, but we also remind kids that it has been several months since they have competed and actually lined up against kids from other schools.”
Johnson continued, “The staff is looking forward to seeing what both squads can do when at full strength. We hope that the weather will cooperate with us on Tuesday, April 5th, as we host the Sugar River Invite. There will be a number of local teams coming to the Belleville Sports Complex for what will be the first outdoor meet for most, if not all, competitors this season. Field events begin at 4:15 p.m., and running at 4:45 p.m.”
In addition to the Sugar River Invite on April 5th, the team is hosting a meet at 4:15 p.m., on April 12th, and head to an invitational at Cambridge on April 14th, which begins at 4:00 p.m.
