2022 Spring Election Candidates-Belleville Village Board
There are three open seats on the Belleville Village Board and five candidates for the positions.
March 24, 2022
Maxine L. Ward
Age: 73 - will be 74 on 4/6/2022
Occupation: Semi-retired, still teaching piano lessons (53 years).
Years lived in village: 53 years - since 1969.
Incumbent? No.
Have you been on the village board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: I served a few years back, two terms as a village trustee; President and Secretary of Music Boosters; plus served on Village Committees for finance, police and economic development.
Why are you running for village board? With my extensive financial and cultural experience in business career at Journey Mental Health (+33 years) plus years at Dean Clinic, Cub Foods, Mr. Tax, etc., I would work with the board and staff to promote quality services for village residents with greater efficiencies at more effective/lower costs.
What issues do you find most important to the village board? List your top three priorities: I would strive to promote growth of Belleville with Benefit to ALL residents by focusing on needed expenditures versus wanted items; getting the best bang for our buck; and promoting Belleville as a Village that residents can afford to live in (taxes and water/sewage bills). Obtaining new businesses in Belleville would help to alleviate the problems listed above.
If you could reverse one village action, what would that be? No comment at this time.
Any additional comments? As a proactive citizen versus a reactive citizen, I would encourage the board to review old ordinances, granting of permits and permit fees, new and old construction/remodeling requirements and fees, review working conditions, duties and wages of current/future Village employees, and promote and seek new businesses to locate in Belleville. Mainly, listen to the voices and concerns of the residents!
