Sugar River Euchre
February 17, 2022
With just four weeks left in the season, it’s crunch time for many teams. Several can only play the spoiler to those still with some hopes of being crowned champions. Starlight Express is in control sitting atop the rankings and hoping that they’re not the recipients of a spoiler alert. They did survive this past week by outscoring the J&M River Rats by 16. The Shufflers weren’t so lucky. They were hoping to end their losing streak and put themselves in a possible tie for second place, but the Pranksters had other ideas and outmaneuvered the Shufflers by 23.
Kleeman’s Hay Shaker Roger Truttmann has been on fire lately. He is averaging 110 plus points per match after his perfect score in the mid-winter tournament. This week, Jeff Judd was lucky enough to stack hay with Roger scoring 118 points (this week’s high), losing only their 7th game to Cowboys Tom Schlimgen and Steve Dower. With some help from the rest of the team, the Hay Shakers hang on to win by 20 points.
Two Jones’ Plumbing couples piped in 110 psi each. Jerome Krantz and partner Tiny Zander, along with teammates Chris Booth and Ross Neshiem, provided the lines for the big flush that carried the Trolls 44 miles downriver. Trolls Andy Amacher and Scott Hook were the first ones down the drain with this week’s low score of 70 points.
The Sportsman’s Bar Cheese Eaters matched their first-half win record halfway through this half by stealing 10 points out of the Mounties’ saddle bags. I am not sure what part this played in the outcome, but I hear a sub had to be called to play for the Mounties due to a loose cow.
Standings: Starlight Express 5-0; Kleeman’s 4-1; Pranksters 4-1; Cowboys 3-2; Mounties 3-2; Jones Plumbing 2-3; Shufflers 2-3; Sportsman’s Bar 2-3; J&M Bar 0-5; Trolls 0-5.
