Raiders Qualify Four for Sectionals

From left: Carson Loshaw, Mason Mau, Blake Endres, Ryker Swenson. These four Raiders wrestlers will be competing at Sectionals, which will take place on Saturday, February 19th, at Richland Center High School.

The Sugar River Raiders high school wrestling team competed in the WIAA Regionals on Saturday, February 12th, at Beloit Turner High School. After all was said and done, the Raiders qualified four wrestlers for Sectionals, which will take place on Saturday, February 19th, at Richland Center High School.

Raiders qualifying for Sectionals were Blake Endres, Mason Mau, Ryker Swenson, and Carson Loshaw. At 106, Blake Endres qualified by going 2-1 on the day capturing 2nd place. Mason Mau, wrestling at 126, claimed the Regional championship by going 3-0 on the day. At 152, Ryker Swenson captured the 152 Regional Championship by going 3-0 on the day. At 195, Carson Loshaw, placed 2nd by going 2-1 on the day.

"I was proud of the team's effort on Saturday. Everyone should be proud of the way they carried themselves by leaving everything they had on the mat," said Coach Pete Swenson. "Now it's time to move our four qualifiers onto the state tournament."

Placing in the top six for the Raiders were Brennan Keyes (4th), Avery Lettman (6th), Leah Kuhl (6th), Ryan Degenhardt (6th), and Isaac Erb (4th).

Wrestling will begin at Richland Center High School at 10:00 a.m.
