The Monticello Ponies varsity boys basketball team hosted the Juda Panthers on Thursday, January 13th. The Ponies were ahead by 4 points at the half and they stepped up on offense and defense and held Juda to just 11 points the second half to win the game. The final score was Monticello 63, Juda 33.

Juda scored the first basket, but the Ponies scored the next 15 points for a 13-point lead with 12:15 left in the first half. Juda went on an 11-0 run at the end of the first to get within 4 points. The Ponies opened the second half with a 14-0 run and then stretched the lead even further with a 16-4 run to go up by 29 with 6 minutes left in the game.

Brayden Ryan and Jackson Eyler both scored 19 points to lead the Ponies, with Eyler pulling down 6 rebounds and Ryan with 5. Evan Guenther scored 8 points and Kade Ace had 10 rebounds.

On January 18th, the Ponies hosted Dodgeville. On January 21st they will play at Albany and on January 25th will play at Cambridge. Monticello sits at the top of the Six Rivers East at 6-0, and has an overall record of 7-6.
