Lady Knights Drop One to Point

December 30, 2021

On Monday, December 20th, the New Glarus Knights girls varsity team hosted the #2 team in Division 4, Mineral Point. The game was tied at 26 at the half, but Mineral Point turned up their offense in the second half to win it. The final score was New Glarus 46, Mineral Point 58.

“After a tough loss, I’m very proud of the character this team showed,” said Coach Kevin Parman. “After starting out 5-0 we have dropped three in a row to three very good teams with a combined record of 24-3. Even though the losses are hard to swallow, we also know they will prepare us for the grind ahead. We played with a lot of heart and determination and even led a very good portion of the game. We just have to limit our turnovers down the stretch.”

With 18 points, Lindsey Schadewalt led New Glarus in scoring, she also had 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Alex Atwell scored 9 points and had 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks, and Jordyn Runde and Isabella Brenkman both scored 6 points, with Runde having 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals and Brenkman pulling down 3 rebounds, as well as having 1 assist and 3 steals.

On Monday, December 27th, and Tuesday, December 28th, New Glarus was at the Dodgeville Tournament. They faced Jefferson on Monday and Tuesday’s game was TBD. They will host Platteville on Tuesday, January 4th.
