The Belleville Wildcats played the Poynette Pumas in a WIAA Division 5 tournament on Friday night. The Pumas were seeded #5 for the game, while the Wildcats were seeded #4. As they did for most of their season, the Wildcats dominated the entire game and won 56-14.

Belleville scored first and often, with their first touchdown coming from a 69-yard run by Dylan Posthuma into the end zone. Trevor Syse's extra point was good. Five minutes later, Trevor Syse ran it in from a yard out and kicked the extra point. Poynette scored a TD early on in the second quarter and Belleville answered back with one of their own when Trevor Syse passed it to Andrew Ace for a 22-yard gain. Syse's PAT was successful. Shortly before halftime, Posthuma ran it in for another 6 points from 5 yards out and Syse took care of the extra point. The halftime score was Belleville 28, Poynette 7.

In the third quarter, the Wildcats scored three more times. The first was on a 28-yard bomb from Trevor Syse to Andrew Ace, the second was a 64-yard run from Dylan Posthuma and Syse hurled a 44-yarder to Anthony Nolden for their third score of the quarter. Syse kicked all three extra points. Poynette scored at the top of the fourth, and the Wildcats closed out the game with a 28-yard pass from Aidan Keyes to Landry Yarbrough, and a successful PAT by Kaden DeSmet.

Trevor Syse racked up 190 passing yards at QB, completing 11 of 15 of his passes and scoring 3 touchdowns. Aidan Keyes was 2 for 4 with 32 yards and scored 1 TD, and Carson Syse was 1-1 with 45 yards.

Dylan Posthuma led Belleville in rushing yards, with 157 on 7 carries for 3 touchdowns, while Trevor Syse rushed for 19 yards on 11 carries and Patrick Samon had 5 yards on 3 carries.

Anthony Nolden had 132 yards on 7 receptions, while Andrew Ace had 82 yards, Landry Yarbrough had 28 yards, Carson Syse had 14 yards, Dylan Posthuma had 7 and Kaden DeSmet had 4.

On defense, Alonso Vega and Colin Derke had 3 tackles apiece, Jake Fahey, Aidan Keyes and Dylan Posthuma all had 2 and Andrew Ace had 1 interception.

The Wildcats play at #1 seeded Marshall on Friday night. Marshall is coming off a 14-12 win over #8 River Valley. Whoever wins on Friday night will face the winner of the #3 Richland Center vs #2 Brodhead/Juda game on Friday, November 5th.
