The Monroe-New Glarus Cheesemakers swim team competed at an invitational in Platteville on October 23rd. Sauk Prairie won the invitational, with the Cheesemakers placing 2nd. Other teams competing included La Crosse, Edgerton/Evansville, River Valley/Richland Center, Lodi Heights, Platteville/Lancaster and Whitewater.

“The girls swam really well!” said Coach Haley Kaiser. “Morgan Erstad and Karley Michels had a great meet and both took time off on their individual races. We are now getting ready for conference and sectionals.”

In the 200Y Medley Relay, the team of Riley Hoesly, Karley Michels, Mazie Paradis and Morgan Erstad finished 2nd, with a time of 1:57.65 (just .19 behind the winners), and the team of Taylor Rufer, Elsa Schaefer, Peyton Yaun and Kristina Foley finished 9th with a time of 2:15.84.

In the 200Y Freestyle, Delaney Lynch finished 2nd with a time of 2:12.58, while Taylor Rufer finished 14th with a time of 2:26.41.

Mazie Paradis won the 100Y IM with a time of 1:01.89. Finishing 7th was Riley Hoesly, with a time of 1:09.28.

In the 200Y IM, Elsa Schaefer finished 5th with a time of 2:34.29, while Peyton Yaun finished 7th with a time of 2:37.70.

In the 50Y Freestyle, Samantha Schiro finished 8th with a time of 28.85, while Danika Doll finished 12th with a time of 29.36, and Kristina Foley finished 21st with a time of 31.26.

In the 100Y Butterfly, Samantha Schiro placed 6th with a time of 1:09.12, while Delaney Lynch finished 7th with a time of 1:10.09.

Mazie Paradis won the 100Y Freestyle event, with a time of 54.51. Finishing 14th was Danika Doll, with a time of 1:07.70 and Kristina Foley finished 16th with a time of 1:08.58.

The 200Y Freestyle Relay team of Morgan Erstad, Karley Michels, Danika Doll and Delaney Lynch finished 4th with a time of 1:53.17, while the team of Samantha Schiro, Elsa Schaefer, Kristina Foley and Peyton Yaun finished 11th with a time of 2:04.77.

In the 100Y Backstroke, Morgan Erstad finished 3rd with a time of 1:03.86, while Riley Hoesly placed 5th with a time of 1:07.92 and Taylor Rufer finished 12th with a time of 1:15.46.

In the 100Y Breaststroke, Karley Michels finished 2nd with a time of 1:13.68, while Elsa Schaefer placed 6th with a time of 1:19.05, and Peyton Yaun finished 7th with a time of 1:20.17.

The team of Riley Hoesly, Morgan Erstad, Delaney Lynch and Mazie Paradis won the 400Y Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:50.93, while the team of Taylor Rufer, Samantha Schiro, Danika Doll and Karley Michels finished 8th with a time of 4:28.96.

Earlier in the week, on October 19th, the team swam at Baraboo. The Varsity score was Baraboo 103, M/NG 67. Junior Varsity score was Baraboo 22, M/NG 19.

In the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Mazie Paradis, Karley Michels, Morgan Erstad and Riley Hoesly swam to a 2nd place finish, with a time of 2:12.02. Placing 3rd was the team of Samantha Schiro, Peyton Yaun, Elsa Schaefer and Keeley Mulligan with a time of 2:23.03.

Delaney Lynch won the 200 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 2:21.80, while Samantha Schiro placed 4th with a time of 2:41.34 and Kristina Foley finished 6th with a time of 2:45.59.

In the 200 SC Meter IM, Peyton Yaun finished 3rd with a time of 2:49.28, while Elsa Schaefer finished 4th with a time of 2:50.64 and Karley Michels finished 5th with a time of 2:59.77.

Mazie Paradis won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle event with a time of 27.59 while Keeley Mulligan finished 5th with a time of 32.49 and Danika Doll finished 6th with a time of 33.18.

Mazie Paradis won the 100 SC Meter Butterfly event with a time of 1:06.93, while Samantha Schiro finished 3rd with a time of 1:18.14.

In the 100 SC Meter Freestyle, Keeley Mulligan finished 4th with a time of 1:11.65, while Danika Doll placed 5th with a time of 1:14.52 and Kristina Foley finished 6th with a time of 1:16.77.

Delaney Lynch won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle, with a time of 5:01.50. Placing 2nd was Riley Hoesly with a time of 5:09.66, and Taylor Rufer placed 6th with a time of 5:44.63.

In the 200 Freestyle Relay, the team of Morgan Erstad, Samantha Schiro, Keeley Mulligan and Delaney Lynch placed 2nd with a time of 2:02.14, while the team of Danika Doll, Peyton Yaun, Emma Tran and Kristina Foley finished in 4th place with a time of 2:18.32.

In the 100 SC Meter Backstroke, Morgan Erstad placed 2nd with a time of 1:12.12, while Riley Hoesly finished 3rd with a time of 1:15.96 and Taylor Rufer placed 6th with a time of 1:25.34.

In the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke, Karley Michels placed 4th with a time of 1:24.14, while Elsa Schaefer placed 5th with a time of 1:26.40 and Peyton Yaun finished 6th with a time of 1:26.72.

In the 400 Freestyle Relay, the team of Morgan Erstad, Mazie Paradis, Delaney Lynch and Riley Hoesly finished 2nd with a time of 4:22.93. Finishing in 4th place was the team of Taylor Rufer, Kristina Foley, Karley Michels and Elsa Schaefer with a time of 5:09.79.

On October 30th, the Cheesemakers will compete at McFarland and on November 6th, Sectionals will be held at DeForest.
