Monticello Blood Drive Collects 49 Units

October 28, 2021

Hello!

We would like to thank all of the wonderful people who came to the Zwingli Church in Monticello on Friday, the 15th of October, to donate blood. We had a very busy day and it was nice to see all of you. The day started with a nearly full schedule, and with the addition of a few walk-ins, the beds were full from noon until 5:00 and after.

In the course of the day, we hear people talk about the reason that they give blood. Some folks have parents or children or friends who have/had medical conditions that required blood transfusions. Some have read or heard about people in the community that are not well. Some just feel lucky that they are able to do it, so they do. We hope, whatever your reason is for donating, that you feel successful at the end of your day, because we truly appreciate your gift.

Forty-nine people registered to donate blood and forty-nine units were collected. There were two first-time donors: N. Yaun and E. Rufer. We hope that you had a good experience and that you will be back another time! It is always fun to see and to catch up with our regulars and is just as fun to meet new people. The canteen is always a good place to relax after donating. Thanks go out to the Washington Reformation Church for the wonderful cookies. The cut-out cookies were shaped like oak leaves and were decorated for fall. And they were all soooo good! Thank you to the Monticello Lions and Lionesses for the cheese sticks and milk. There was also hot coffee and lots of individually wrapped goodies, including Nutter Butters, which are my personal favorite. The Culver’s coupons are always appreciated - one Mom said that her kids want her to donate blood so they can get the custard. Another good reason!

We want to thank the Zwingli Church for letting us use their facilities and also the Red Cross staff who schedule our blood drives and keep things rocking all day long.

The next Red Cross blood drive in Monticello will be at the Monticello school in December. Please support the students of Monticello High School. We look forward to seeing you again in 2022! Happy and Healthy Holidays to everyone!

Best Regards,

The Monticello Red Cross Blood Drive Committee
