Thank You to Holly Lague
September 16, 2021
Dear Editor,
The trustees of the New Glarus Library Board would like to extend a big thank you to outgoing Library Director, Holly Lague, for her service to the community. Lague was hired in February 2019 and right away she impressed the Board with her management skills and how she strove for excellence in every aspect of the directorship. During her tenure, Lague showcased her ability to creatively resolve any number of challenges, in particular, maintaining services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
We appreciate that Lague and her staff found ways to provide materials and programs, even when the Village Hall was closed to protect public safety. Special programs like virtual Trivia Night were a huge success during the pandemic and the 4th Avenue pickup window allowed patrons to check out materials. These temporary changes took a lot of extra effort, but the library board shares Lague’s feeling that the public library is critical to the very fabric of our community in good times and even more so in tough times.
Holly Lague’s deep connections to this community and the culture of New Glarus were obvious in every endeavor that she undertook. Be it writing a grant for a mobile sound system that she named, F.R.I.T.Z., or her tireless work to advance the building project, Holly was all in! Her amazing creativity, professionalism, and friendship will be greatly missed! The Library Board would like to express our gratitude to Lague for her commitment to the NGPL. New Glarus is a better place because of her contributions.
