Man Arrested in Belleville on Several Felony Charges After Incident

September 2, 2021

On August 26, 2021, at around 11:02 p.m., Belleville Police received a complaint of a disturbance, where a male subject was locked out of his residence and had broken a light on the exterior of a neighboring unit. The caller also reported that the subject was possibly intoxicated, and after he got back into his residence, stated that he heard banging and yelling.

An officer repeatedly attempted contact at the door and when opened observed that a female inside was injured. The male forced the door shut and refused to open it again. The male went to a window and made repeated threats to kill and shoot officers. The male told officers that there were bombs located at the doorways and lower windows of the residence that would go off if they tried to enter.

Neighbors were evacuated and officers attempted to negotiate with the male to get him or the female to come out, with no success. The Dane County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team and their negotiators responded to the scene, and, at about 3:20 a.m., the subject was taken into custody. The victim was transported to a local hospital by Belleville EMS.
