Options Being Considered for Highway Improvement
August 19, 2021
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is currently evaluating potential improvements to two intersections near Monticello.
The first is the intersection of Wittenwyler Road and State Highway 69. WisDOT is considering adding a southbound left turn lane to the intersection.
There are four different options being investigated for the County Road C and State Highway 69 intersection. Option one is adding a single-lane roundabout. Option two is to construct an offset intersection. Option three is to realign County Road C and Urban Road into an offset T-intersection. The last option being considered is to realign County Road C to a T-intersection, with Urban Road becoming a cul-de-sac.
In addition to these two projects, the bridge over the Little Sugar River on State Highway 69 in Monticello will be repaired, including a deck replacement.
Tentative Schedule
WisDOT anticipates that a public involvement meeting will be held in late summer of 2021, with the construction scheduled for the spring/summer of 2026.
Traffic Impacts/Detours
Temporary traffic signals and flagging operations are currently proposed for State Highway 69 traffic, with no detour expected. County Road C, however, will be closed for the improvements.
