New season. New conference. New team. If you like all things new, this upcoming football season is custom made for you.
This fall NGM will be a new member of a new conference, the Southwest Conference (SWC), not to be confused with the SWAC which Belleville will be playing in. Other members of the SWC are Dodgeville, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Richland Center, River Valley, and Brodhead/Juda. Yes, NGM will be the smallest school in the conference.
With the parting of last year’s senior class this will appear much like a new team, which of course means many new opportunities for new players to shine and showcase their talents. We’ll watch for senior leadership to develop over the first several games.
NGM will open play at home on Friday, August 20, with a non-conference game against Clinton. The rest of the schedule is as follows: Aug. 27 @ Belleville; Sept. 3 @ Brodhead/Juda; Sept. 10 Prairie du Chien Home; Sept. 17 Wis. Dells Home; Sept. 24 @ Richland Center; Oct. 1 Platteville Home; Oct. 8 @ River Valley; Oct. 15 Dodgeville Home. All games are at 7:00 p.m.
Key dates will be the rivalry game at Belleville Aug. 27 as NGM tries to avenge their one-point loss in the last Spring game. Watch the Syse brothers from Belleville, both now seniors. Oct. 1 will be Homecoming as we play host to Platteville.
Anyone who has ever played at any level recalls fondly their days of “Friday Night Lights” and high school football. The memories made last a lifetime. Buckle up NGM fans - here we go again! Ya just gotta love high school football in Wisconsin!
