Ruth M. Zimmerman, age 96, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the New Glarus Home. She was born on May 19, 1925, the daughter of Julius and Alice (Hefty) Eichelkraut.

On February 14, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jacob Walter Zimmerman Jr. at the Swiss Church parsonage in New Glarus. Ruth was a mother, homemaker, and farm wife. She was a member of the Swiss United Church of Christ in New Glarus and the Postville Ladies Aid.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Betty (Dave) Owen; son, Paul (Mary) Zimmerman; grandchildren, Jeremy (Amy) Owen, Nicholas Owen, Renee Zimmerman, Emily Zimmerman, and Tyrone Zimmerman; great-grandchildren, Keevon, Marvin, Markeese and Lucianna Owen, Malcolm Reed, and Michael Lease.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; brothers, Herbert and Leon Eichelkraut; and great-granddaughters, Catelyn and Audrey Owen.

Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home, 29 Sixth Avenue, New Glarus, WI, with Pat Pluss officiating. Burial is in the Swiss Church Cemetery. A visitation preceded the funeral service from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Monday, August 2, 2021, at the Zentner-Beal Funeral Home in New Glarus.
