Karen A. Frey, age 67, passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021, at UW Hospital in Madison, WI. She was born on November 7, 1953, at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, the daughter of Richard and Donna Jean (Stuelke) Schmelzer.

Karen worked as a laboratory technician for Ray-O-Vac for over thirty years. She enjoyed birdwatching, collecting frogs, building puzzles, word searches, reading, and listening to live music. The holidays were special to Karen; she loved preparing for Christmas and making Halloween costumes for her family. Most of all she enjoyed the times spent with family and the movie nights shared with her grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her other half, Dean Scoville; sons, Jason (Stacy) Frey and Jeffrey Frey; daughter, Kristi (Cassie Wunderlin) Scoville; grandchildren, Samantha, Cameron, Adelynn, and Austin; and grand-dog, Cubby. She is further survived by her brother, Dave Schmelzer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Andrew Scoville; granddaughters, Kayla and Abigail Frey; and a brother, Rick Schmelzer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 29, 2021, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home, 109 Greenway Cross, Belleville, WI, with Pastor Phil Ace officiating. Burial will be in the Belleville Cemetery. Relatives and friends called from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, at the Becker-Beal Funeral Home in Belleville.
