Monticello's June Blood Drive Had Four First Time Donors
July 15, 2021
Hello All,
The Red Cross Blood Drive, held on Friday, the 25th of June in Monticello, was a great success. Thanks to so many kind and generous people, our goal of 49 pints was met. The weather person sent us a rainy day at a time that we desperately needed the moisture. Double Bonus!
The afternoon started with lots of appointments and was very busy, but the schedule thinned out as the day went on. This was a change from how things looked over the last year, when our schedule was so full that we could not take walk-ins. It was nice to be able to accommodate walk-ins again. We appreciate all of the donors that sign up ahead of time, but also recognize that some people’s daily schedules are fluid and it is not always possible to know what the day will bring. It was very nice to be able to say “Yes” to everyone who wanted to donate and to ultimately meet our collection goal. Walk-ins should know that you are able to access and complete Rapid Pass on the day of the drive, so if you decide to walk-in, you can do Rapid Pass before you go to the donation site.
A heart-felt welcome goes out to our four first-time donors. One young lady from Belleville was a first-time donor. She was 16 years old, so her mother came along to sign the approval form and to lend her support. When asked why she wanted to donate blood, the young lady said that her mother had donated many times and she wanted to do the same. Really nice!
Thank you to the Zwingli Church for allowing us to hold the June blood drive at their facilities. The church requested that masks be worn, so everyone masked up while they were at the blood drive. Our canteen is not fully stocked yet, but we hope to bring back the delicious cheese and sausage and other goodies soon. Thanks to Karen Brugger and Anna Marie Davison for making cookies and packaging them individually for the canteen. They were delicious! Thanks also to Roger and Karen Brugger for donating ice cream sundaes for June Dairy Month. The Monticello Lions/Lionesses donated milk and ice and helped with set up of the drive. Thank you to them, and also to Culver’s of New Glarus for their “Pint for a Pint” coupons.
Finally, and most importantly, thank you to the 44 people who donated blood in Monticello on the 25th of June. You are helping people who need you right now, and who will never be able to thank you enough for your gift. Your kindness and generosity are appreciated by many people.
Hope to see everyone again in October. Best wishes to all for a safe and happy summer and autumn.
