A new report published by Becker's Hospital Review has shared that Monroe Clinic, a member of SSM Health, has again achieved Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) overall 5-Star Rating for the seventh time.

This honor puts Monroe Clinic as part of elite group of healthcare providers. Only 455 out of more than 3,300 CMS-ranked hospitals received a 5-Star rating in 2021.

The CMS ranking system modeled the 5-Star Quality Rating System after the star rating system used by hotels, restaurants and other service industries where consumers choose higher star rating facilities to help ensure the best experience possible.

Categories included in this rating system are patient experience, safe, effectiveness of care, patient readmissions, efficient use of medical imaging, timeliness of care and mortality.

SSM Health also had three other Wisconsin hospitals achieve 5-Star rankings in 2021, including SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Janesville, SSM Health St. Clare Hospital – Baraboo and SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital – Madison.
