ADRC Offers Healthy Living with Diabetes
Program Helps People with Type 2 Diabetes, Pre-Diabetes, or People Living with Someone Who has Diabetes
April 22, 2021
More than 100 million adults in the U.S. are now living with diabetes or pre-diabetes, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). While that statistic is startling, there is good news. People with diabetes or pre-diabetes can improve their health by joining a Virtual - Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop sponsored by the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Green County. The program has been researched and proven to improve the health of adults with diabetes or pre-diabetes. We also encourage those who live with adults who have diabetes, but may not have diabetes themselves to take the workshop.
In just 6 weekly sessions, Healthy Living with Diabetes gives participants strategies for managing diabetes including techniques to deal with symptoms and information about healthy eating, appropriate use of medication, exercise, and working effectively with health care providers. Participants learn to make realistic, achievable action plans, share their experiences, and help each other solve problems.
Our Virtual - Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop will be held on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m., starting May 12th and going through June 16th. We also are offering a Zoom practice session on May 5th at 9:00 a.m., for those that may need to learn the online platform. We will work with you on all of your technical needs. There are no in-county living requirements. Everyone is welcome. This workshop is free of charge. Pre-registration is required and there are limited spots available, so sign up today!
