What happened to Brodhead's Decatur Lakes Golf Course? The first six holes opened in 1926, and over the years expanded to a full eighteen and a club house which became a favorite of graduation parties and class reunions. Unfortunately, this local gem struggled and folded. A community group purchased nine holes to turn into a nature preserve and establish large prairie plots. A private couple purchased the other nine with the idea of allowing weddings and community activities. This now includes a 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) cross country course winding back and forth among the former fairway...
