On Wednesday, March 31, 2021, at approximately 6:12 a.m., the Green County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a one-vehicle rollover crash along STH 59, approximately .1 mile east of Greenbush Road, just northeast of the City of Monroe. Deputies, along with Monroe Rural Fire Department and Green County EMS, were dispatched to the scene.

Deputies located a badly damaged pickup truck and the body of an adult male several hundred feet from the highway in a field. The Initial investigation revealed that the vehicle had been eastbound on STH 59, failed to negotiate a curve, left the highway and overturned. The driver, and lone occupant of the vehicle, had not been wearing a safety belt and was ejected. Deputies believe that the crash occurred late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, and that the scene was not visible until daylight. This incident was Green County’s first fatal crash of 2021. The victim has been identified as Cody J. Martin, 27, Monroe.

The crash remains under investigation.
