Sinnett Supports Miller for Village Board President in Monticello
April 1, 2021
Dear Editor,
I was raised in Monticello. With the exception of a few years in Madison, I have spent my entire life in this small community. In all those years, I don’t recall seeing signs in citizen’s yards promoting a candidate for Village President. This year we have two individuals running for the Village President, which also seems unusual. It is sometimes difficult to find anyone to want to take on that job.
It is a new world in 2021 after a few challenging years for this community some in ways we are all familiar with (COVID-19 pandemic) and some in ways that some village residents probably are not even aware of. Through this extremely challenging time I would like to tell you about a young woman who stepped up to the plate and is doing her civic duty and leading us and serving us. Leaora Miller is a mother of two now adult children, a devoted wife, daughter and sister. She has had to learn to live with serious health issues for members of her family and still is able to excel in performing the duties of the Village President for Monticello. Leaora loves this community and has given her heart and soul to it and desires to continue to serve this community as our Village President. Through this entire pandemic with all of its challenges she has found ways to keep us informed whether it is on the Monticello Comes Together Facebook page, newsletters that she has made available in several locations in the community or just being available to everyone in the community by telephone. She has been there for us all.
Leaora has totally amazed me and I just say “You Go Girl”. When our community was without a Village Clerk she stepped up to make sure that things kept going essentially taking on the role of clerk and learning from the aid of county and other community clerks and I believe that she has excelled. At the Village Board meetings it amazes me at the knowledge she has.
I have faithfully attending Village Board meetings because I wanted to know where my taxes are going, why my water bill is so high, etc. etc. I have learned a great deal attending these meetings and I know understand why my taxes are what they are. I have been attending meetings through the terms of three different Village Presidents and want to say thank you to all for the hard role they filled. They all deserve our thanks and appreciation. With Leaora, I have seen a visible presence to hear the citizens and to be there for everyone. This puts her at the head of the class. I hope that you will all think seriously about this coming election. Leaora has already shown us leadership and a commitment to this community. When we have such a devoted and committed individual, why would you even think about voting for anyone else? Show your belief and get out and vote for Leaora Miller for Monticello Village President on April 6th.
Sincerely,
Sue Sinnett,
Monticello
