Kittelsen Supports Phillipson for Judge
March 25, 2021
Dear Editor,
As far as I can recall, only lawyers residing in Monroe have been elected as Green County Judge. Perhaps this is because lawyer candidates have tended to congregate in the most populous municipality and the seat of government. This gave lawyers proximity to clients and quick physical access to government offices. However, it seems to me that those conditions no are no longer relevant, as there are many fine lawyers around the county who deliver efficient services taking advantage of modern instant communication and efficient transport. So why not consider a judicial candidate from outside Monroe on the merits? One might even argue that a non-Monroe-based candidate may find it easier to establish and maintain the neutrality necessary to be an effective judge. A case in point is Faun Phillipson. She is a Green County native who has practiced in New Glarus for many years, and her experience and integrity make her an excellent choice as County Judge.
Although I grew up in Monroe, even practiced law there early in my career, and hold those memories dear, I now have a home in Albany township. My dad was born and went to school in Albany and my mother in New Glarus. I can remember my dad faithfully traveling to Brodhead and Albany every Wednesday to serve his clients there. So I strongly feel Green County is a lot more than Monroe, and I would happily support and celebrate a qualified Judge from New Glarus or one of the other municipalities in Green County.
I believe Faun Phillipson is the most qualified candidate, so please consider giving her your vote to ensure fair justice in Green County.
