Lady Knights Win Over Potosi/Cassville, WI Heights and Belleville

The New Glarus Lady Knights hosted Potosi/Cassville on February 1st. New Glarus held a 10-point lead at the half and went on to win the game. The final score was New Glarus 64, Potosi/Cassville 44.

Lindsey Schadewalt led the Knights with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Jaylynn Benson scored 14 points and had 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals and Grace Nommensen scored 9 points.

On February 5th, New Glarus played at Wisconsin Heights. New Glarus had a 40-15 lead at the half and went on to win the game, 61-25.

"With everything going on this year it was great to still be able to fit this game in," said Coach Kevin Parman. "Not practicing Thursday due to weather cancelation, I wasn't sure how we would start out. We outscored them 27 to 8 in the first 9 minutes, and never looked back! It was a great game for everyone! Very nice team win on Parents Night."

Leading New Glarus with 22 points was Jaylynn Benson, who also had 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 1 block. Lindsey Schadewalt scored 11 points with 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal, and Peyton Yaun scored 5 points.

On Saturday, February 6th, the Lady Knights hosted the Lady Wildcats of Belleville. Belleville had a 29-22 lead at the half but New Glarus was not giving up and ended up winning a very close game. The final score was New Glarus 51, Belleville 49.

"Belleville came to play! We started off very slow, finding ourselves down 17 at one point," explained Coach Parman. "After playing Friday night and turning around and play Saturday afternoon, we didn't have the energy that Belleville had! I'm proud of the way my team dug deep in the tank and found a way to win. We learned a lot from this game and now we have to fix what we need to and get ready for the tournament!"

The Lady Knights are seeded #2 for the WIAA Division 3 Girls Basketball Sectionals and received a first round bye. They will play the winner of the February 9th #6 Belleville vs #3 Platteville game at 7:00 p.m., on Friday, February 12th, at home.
