The Monticello Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for Monticello Veterinary Clinic's new location on S. Pratt Road on Wednesday, December 2, 2020. Dr. Danyelle Bollig has led a very busy life the last couple of years. In January of 2018, she purchased the small animal portion of Green Pastures Veterinary Service in Monticello from Tim and DeeDee Bruns and renamed it Monticello Veterinary Clinic LLC. Four months later she got married, then gave birth to her two daughters, Paxley (2019) and Oaklynn (2020), and built a brand new vet clinic on the east side of Monticello, which opened on November 2, 2020.
Bollig grew up on a large dairy farm in Brodhead and is the daughter of Jeff and Jan Williams. She attended vet school at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts. Bollig had every intention of becoming a large animal vet and returning to the home farm, but life threw a curve ball and she took a small animal corporate job in Madison.
"To say the least, it was not for me," said Bollig.
In 2015, Bollig took a job at Green Pastures as a mixed animal vet. She enjoyed it, and in 2017, expressed interest in purchasing the practice in the future. Six months later, she was a new business owner. With the practice growing so quickly, planning was started immediately for a new building.
The new clinic, located at 480 N. Pratt Road in Monticello, was constructed by Priority Builders and is roughly 4 to 5 times larger than the previous clinic building. It features four exam rooms, a roomy parking lot and a large lawn.
"We plan to keep services the same, with the addition of an Orthopedic Surgeon at some point," said Bollig. "The plan is to hire another doctor eventually but I am not ready to give up any of my clients so this will be a hard transition! Ideally, I would like a part-time doc there, maybe Monday, Wednesday and Friday, to help out."
"I am beyond excited to be in the new clinic, and want to thank every single client and the community for their continued support prior to the building and with the transition into the new place. You should all know this would not be possible without you! The kind words and excitement is admirable. A huge thank you to Amy (customer service representative) and Brielle (vet tech) for all of your help, day in and day out. I would like to thank my family for all the help, support, and encouragement along the way," said Bollig. "I do owe a special thank you to my husband, Tyler, who was there for all the meetings, weekends spent at the clinic, and helping care for the little ones through all of this."
"Another thanks to Dr. Holter and his wife, Jamie, for taking me under their wing with advice and direction on owning/managing/and operating a vet clinic," continued Bollig. "I should also thank Priority Builders and all the contractors for getting this done so quickly, and of course, Greenwoods State Bank for the loan."
Dr. Bollig is seeing furry clients Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and on Thursday from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m., for simple check-ups, general surgery and dental cleanings for both cats and dogs. The clinic also carries pet odor candles and Royal Canin pet food. Monticello Veterinary Clinic may be reached at (608) 938-1581 or by emailing office@monticelloveterinaryclinic.com.
