November 26, 2020
The Belleville Turkey Drop organizers would like to thank the Belleville community for their amazing generosity during these unprecedented times at their 9th annual Turkey Drop that took place on Friday, November 13th. It was unknown to how the turnout would be and it ended up being an incredible evening!!
Donations included: Over $2,000.00 in cash donations; 88 turkeys; 79 boxes or bags of stuffing; 60 cans of mandarin oranges; 78 boxes of mashed potatoes; 72 boxes of orange Jell-O; 100 cans of green beans; 81 cans of cream of mushroom soup; 75 jar/cans of gravy; 47 cans of cranberries; 61 cans of french fried onions; 24 items of miscellaneous donations. This surpassed last year's donations in all categories.
Organizers would like to thank Belleville Middle School and High School students; Doug Brown and Doug and Marian Viney for their turkey creation at Library Park, Julie Sutter Blair for all the wonderful signs and window art and all the giving people who donated items.
Special thank you once again goes out to the Francois family for graciously allowing the Turkey Drop to take place at the former Francois Sales and Service parking lot; Darin Burreson/Burreson's grocery store for storing the turkeys and collecting items; staff at the Belleville Middle School and High School for collecting donations; and Bob and Bev Flanagan, Karen Stremikis, and Karen Armstrong who coordinate and help at the Belleville Food Pantry. It's humbling to live in such a wonderful town that goes above and beyond to help others, THANK YOU!!
