Kathleen M. Marty

Kathleen M. Marty, age 76 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born the daughter of Dwayne and Dorothy (Sweet) Block on May 19, 1944, in Monroe.

She was a graduate of Monroe High School and Green County Teacher's College, followed by classes at UW-Platteville. Kathleen was united in marriage to Randall Marty on August 5, 1967, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Albany. Kathy taught elementary, grades 1st thru 4th, in the Monticello School District for 34 years total.

She was a member of WEA and served as the President of Monticello Music Parents Association for many years. She enjoyed many shopping trips with her dear friend, Lita Appel, most especially visiting Christopher and Banks. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting and sewing, embroidery, flower gardens, bird watching, baking, water color painting, and scrapbooking. In retirement, she loved to do jigsaw puzzles at home and at the Monticello Library.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Randy of Monticello; children, Marcia (Russ) Thiel of Janesville, Heidi (Trevor) Steiner of Mount Horeb, and Scott (Janet) Marty, most recently of Menomonee Falls, WI; grandchildren, Jadyn and Emily Thiel, Hailey, Jenna, and Brinley Steiner, and Annabelle and Nathaniel Marty; brother, Neil (Kathryn) Block of Clintonville, WI; sister, Jane Wyttenbach of Pocatello, ID; nieces and nephews, Amy Dye, Jamie Schindlbeck, Aaron Block, and Joel Block.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private family services will be held at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Gafner presiding. Masks will be required. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Monticello Excellence in Education Fund.
