Save Our Health Care

September 17, 2020

Dear Editor,

Just as we are seeing a bump in our COVID cases in Wisconsin, the White House and the Wisconsin Statehouse continue to focus on repealing the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. With nothing to replace it, around 20 million Americans nationwide could lose access to affordable health care when they need it most.

On top of that, Republican controlled statehouse has refused the Medicaid expansion (known as BadgerCare in Wisconsin) that could have insured thousands. Thirty-nine states have accepted the expansion. Wisconsin is one of 12 that has not. Why? Republican’s refusal to expand BadgerCare has already cost Wisconsin taxpayers $1 billion in federal funding.

The choice is clear to me. Kriss Marion, who is running for the 51st Assembly District, will fight for BadgerCare expansion. That will allow our local hospitals to be reimbursed adequately for services provided to the poor and the elderly and protect people who have lost their insurance during this perilous time. At the same time she will fight to bring down ACA prices on the exchange so more Wisconsinites can afford good insurance.

In contrast, her opponent, Todd Novak, and his Republican colleagues in Madison, are bent on embracing Donald Trump’s relentless campaign to overturn the ACA without offering any plan to replace it. Imagine living in our country right now without decent health insurance.

If you too are concerned about the health care in our state, as I am, please consider Kriss Marion for State Assembly.
