The Village of New Glarus's not-for-profit utility is dedicating "Community Recharge" funds to support area pandemic relief efforts.
"The current public health emergency continues to challenge the local business community," said Drake Daily, Village Administrator. "New Glarus wants to do our part to assist in their recovery."
To aid local relief efforts, the utility is making a donation of $2,900 to the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce. The funds will be used to run a special promotion on "Chamber Bucks". For a limited time, when someone buys $50 worth of Chamber Bucks, they will receive an additional $25.
"We are excited to receive this grant from New Glarus Utilities to support our local businesses as our community continues to face challenges from the COVID-19 Pandemic. This promotion will put over $9,000 into the local economy," said Bekah Stauffacher, Executive Director of the New Glarus Chamber of Commerce.
New Glarus Utility's Community Recharge funds were provided by the community's member-owned, not-for-profit wholesale power supplier, WPPI Energy. WPPI established the Community Recharge program to help its membership address the local health and economic impacts of COVID-19.
