Have you been on the school board or held any other public office before? If so please describe: Wisconsin Early Childhood Association Board of Directors since 2015. President 2020.

Why are you running for school board? While New Glarus School District has earned a reputation for excellence, it is my belief that there is always room for improvement. It is my intent to utilize my child development knowledge, education, and experience to inform my decisions as a board member. I will work to ensure that every child in the district has equitable opportunity to fulfill their potential through high quality developmentally appropriate curriculums, classroom environments, and schedules that meet both their social-emotional and academic needs so they can live happy productive lives.

Additionally, I believe that as an elected representative it is a critical duty to listen and respond to constituents' concerns and thoughts, as the school board is the governing body of the school district.

What issues do you find most important to the school board? How would you handle these issues? From researching our state report card and other data benchmarks for our district, there is a significant opportunity in our community to close gaps related towards the special education program and students in poverty. In order to achieve this, an audit is commonly done in instances where schools who have a high occurrence of complaints and violations from DPI, as does New Glarus. With the information from the audit, our school would be able to move forward with an actionable plan of improvement for the students and staff.

Any additional comments? I have also worked to support children and their families in the following positions: Secretary of Green County Child Care Network, Cubmaster of Pack 106/848, PTO fundraiser chairperson, Chairperson WECA Palooza fundraiser, Delegate to Alliance for Early Success Conference Fall 2019 (National conference for educators, policymakers, and advocates to advance the early childhood profession), Wisconsin Delegate of Save the Children Action Network Advocacy Summit in Washington, D.C. 2020. I was also awarded the Wisconsin Family Child Care Association Provider of the Year in 2017.
